I will be champion soon, but…

Current Commonwealth Lightweight title holder Richard Oblitey Commey has hinted that his quest to reach the highest level has been tough, yet, he aims at winning a World Title very soon.

Richard, who started life as a footballer, moved into kick-boxing, before settling on boxing. The 27 year old boasts of an impressive record of 18 wins from 18 fights.

According to Richard, Government must invest in boxing and support boxers to enable Ghana to produce more world champions.

Richard Commey, currently ranked 14th in the IBF-USBA world rankings following the victory over Welshman, Gary Buckland last June in London, said he wants to become a world champion in the not too distant future.

“You know it’s not easy, but I know what I am after, so with my ranking now, I know I need to work very hard to achieve my target which is to become a World Champion very soon, Commey insisted.”
