Walker heads Central GBA

The Ghana Boxing Association (GBA) has appointed Mr Twintoh Walker, a private businessman as the Chairman of the Central Regional Boxing Promotions Committee.

He has been given the license to enable him to promote, manage, market and organise boxing events in the region. Mr Walker is also the chairman of Walker Kings Promotion, an organisation that organised the first boxing tournament in Cape Coast last year.

At a ceremony to decorate him with his chairmanship, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Edward Osei-Kweku commended him for his effort at promoting boxing in the municipality in particular and the Central Region in general.

He urged him to continue with his good work, adding that the ministry and the association would recognise individual efforts and give them the needed support.

The Vice Chairman of the GBA, Mr Moses Foh-Amoaning expressed concern that boxing in the country is dying and said the GBA would do all it can to ensure that boxing is revived in the country.

In his address, Mr Walker thanked the GBA and the ministry for his appointment and pledged to work hard to promote boxing in the region.

Present at the function was the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Joe Aggrey and the Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Muniru Arafat Nuhu.
