Peter Assandor appeals to Authorities

Coach Peter Assandor has appealed to the Ministry of Youth and Sports and National Sports Council (NSC) to expedite action on his appointment as the Technical Director of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) to enable him put his boxing programme into motion.

Speaking to the GNA Sports, Coach Assandor said he received assistance from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the GBA to undertake a boxing-coaching course in Italy for him top return and help train professional and amateur boxers as well as unearthing boxing talents in the country.

He said even though he has successfully completed the course and he is back in the country, the authorities are not making any efforts to send him to the field to do what is expected of him.

"I returned from Italy three months ago but nothing has so far been done to enable to impart the knowledge I acquired in Italy to boxing in the country," Coach Assandor lamented.

Coach Assandor said he has been expecting the NSC to sign a contract with him but the authorities are dragging their feet adding that he is eager to assist Ghanaian boxers if the right thing is done; pointing out it was time Ghanaian coaches are given the needed respect and support to enable them help their motherland.

According to the coach he would have accepted offers from Italy, France, Korea and other countries to coach young boxers but " I think there is the need for me to give something back to my country but here am I sitting idle".
