Lamptey, Micah successfully defend AGGW titles

Accra, May 30, GNA - The Black Bombers duo of Benjamin Lamptey and Duke Micah successfully defended their Africa Golden Gloves Warrior (AGGW) Championship belt over the weekend at the Prisons Canteen, Cantonments, Accra.

Lamptey from the Panix Gym unanimously defeated Fit Square's Promise Sogbe in their Light welterweight division contest whilst Micah of Fit Square Gym was declared winner in the Bantamweight clash after Joshua Neequaye of Panix Gym retired after the second round. The two boxers were the toast of the fans as their experience gathered with the national amateur boxing team gave them the upper hand over their opponents who struggled to match up.

Lamptey was by far the better in the three rounds as Sogbe failed to capitalize on his reach and was subsequently subjected to severe punishment in the corner. For Micah, he was simply too much for Neequaye as his combination of left jabs and right hooks dazed the former.

After disciplining the Panix Gym lad, the fighter opted not to return for the third round, allowing Micah to complete a successful defence of his title.

The winners were presented with their belts and a cash price of 50 Ghana cedis ech whilst the losers pocketed 30 Ghana cedis. In the Lightweight contest, Success Tetteh of Panix Gym defeated Alex Coffie of Fit Square Gym whilst Emmanuel Anim of Fit Square Gym toppled Nana Yaw Afriyie of Bridge Foundation in their Light-heavyweight division.

Attoh Quarshie Gym's Samuel Yaw stopped Mohammed Ali of Ultimate Gym in the first round of their Bantamweight contest. The Pride of Reformers, Ananni Kutsoke outclassed Sadick Bashar in their Welterweight contest.

The bouts were promoted by Dade Boxing Promotion Syndicate. 30 May 11
