GBA imposes indefinite suspension on Akeseh

Accra, May 19, GNA - The Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) has placed an indefinite suspension on Mr Emmanuel Tagoe, a boxing coach popularly known in boxing circles as "Akeseh" for alleged misconduct.

He is to refrain from all programmes and activities of the Authority including accompanying boxers to fight in and outside the shores of the country.

This follows a protest lodged by Obric Sala Promotions and Management Limited, managers of Braimah Kamoko a.k.a "Bukom Banku" on May 4 with the GBA.

According to the GBA, the allegations of misconduct levelled against Akeseh, were established beyond reasonable doubts. medical examinations with an unauthorised medical officer and forwarded the report to the Commonwealth Boxing Council (CBC) in a bid to call off the boxer's impending fight against Nigeria's Peter Oboh.

The suspension is in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of GBA, which admonishes licensees never to use misinterpretations, forgery, fraud, dishonesty and other means to deceive other members of the fraternity and the authority.

The Rule also enjoins licensees to refrain from unethical behaviour that may disgrace, disrespect and dishonour GBA and the boxing profession.

The conduct of the coach is said to have dampened Banku's chances of taking on a title fight against the Nigerian.

According to the suspension letter chanced upon by the GNA Sports, Akeseh is neither the trainer nor manager of the boxer and had no right to take the boxer through any form of medical examination for any purpose.

It said the medical officer who conducted the examination has also not been accredited by the GBA.

The GBA has therefore described the conduct of Akeseh as treachery at the highest level and a gross misconduct.

The letter indicated that the conduct of Akeseh is also a conspiracy to destroy the chances of the boxer as well as sabotage the efforts of Obric Sala Promotions.

Akeseh is already in the bad books of the Disciplinary Committee of the GBA following his involvement in the deliberate suppression of the result of a Hepathitis "B" medical examination on another boxer, Jonathan Yartey in 2004 to enable him fight in South Africa.

Yartey was declared unfit after further examinations in South Africa.
