Boxing arena to be inaugurated today

A boxing arena built by the Teshie Sports Development Council under the chairmanship of Mr Osabu Sowah, will be inaugurated today at Teshie N.A.K. House (Teshie Madison Square Gardens) opposite Unicorn House.

The inauguration of the arena christened Teshie Akror Boxing Club, will be under the auspices of the Deputy Minister of Defence and MP for Ledzokuku, Mr Eddie Akita, the management of Teshie Sports Development Council and the people of Teshie.

As part of activities to mark the occasion will be 10 boxing bouts that will feature both amateurs and professionals some of whom include the famous Adanko Deka and Roger Abayateye. A flat rate of ?5,000 will be charged.

The inauguration which is expected to start at 4 p.m will have in attendance such distinguished personalities as the Mr Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Edward Osei Kwaku, his Deputy Mr Joe Aggrey, acting Chief Executive, Dr Owusu-Ansah, the Chairman of GABA, Mr Eddie Duplan and former world boxing champions, Professor Azumah Nelson, Ike Quartey and boxing trainer, Oko Odamtten.
