Boxing arena financiers ready to begin work

Ahmed Rasly, the Egyptian businessman based in Kuwait who has offered to finance the building of a boxing arena in Ghana has, after inspecting the purported land, reinforced his commitment by declaring the readiness to begin work as soon as possible.

“We are ready to begin work tomorrow, we like the land, the environment and we think it will be alright. Boxing is big and there is no doubt that Ghana is very blessed with many talented boxers who can reach the top with a little push.

“We hope this arena when built will help make Ghanaian boxing big,” Mr. Rasly told ALL SPORTS last Thursday at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle site of the land meant for the purpose.

He was in the company of Heart of Lions Boxing Promotions founder and CEO Godwin Kwame Ahiakpor AKA Victor Abramovich as well as Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) bigwigs including President Samir Captan and his vice Jonas Ahene Truly.

Mr. Captan who is donating the land owned by his family, was on hand to show the land and to further offer his blessings for the commencement of the purported $40 million boxing arena, depending on clearance by Lands Commission authorities.

He told ALL SPORTS: “This is a big day for Ghana boxing and we should all be glad. We need such a facility to promote and develop boxing to the world level in Ghana.

“My family have no problems at all giving out this land for national use and we will offer all the support we can so work can begin soon.”
