Amateur Boxing Association releases Week 13 fixtures

Accra, July 5, GNA - The Greater Accra Amateur Boxing Association (GAABA) has released the fixtures of the Week 13 of the Third Edition of the Amateur boxing league scheduled for Friday, July 11 at the Prisons Canteen, Cantonments.

A statement signed by the Acting Chairman, Gideon Quartey copied to the GNA Sports lists the featherweight clash between Nii Ofoli Tetteh of Fit Square Gym and Joshua Barnor of Panix Gym as the top of the pack. Barnor, the overall best boxer of the maiden edition three years ago will be seeking to avenge a painful loss suffered at the hands of Tetteh, on their second meeting in two years.

Tetteh ended the then unbeaten 24-bout streak of Barnor with a split victory, but his inconsistent performance this term sets the stage for an unpredictable clash on Friday.

Also in the featherweight division, Isaac Sackey of Attoh Quarshie Gym will face Ekow Wilson of Black Panthers Gym while George Krampah of Bronx Gym contends with Wisdom Gym's Bright Ayala. Another interesting clash will be in the Flyweight division where Fit Square Gym's duo of Samuel Yaw Addo and Jesse Lartey battle Sulemana Tetteh of Wisdom Gym and George Addy of Will Power Gym respectively. Fans' favourite Victor Kuwornu of Bronx Gym will seek to maintain his impressive run against Francis Aryee of Attoh Quarshie Gym in the Lightweight division while Mathias Sulley of Square Deal Gym slugs it out against Emmanuel Mensah of Will Power Gym. Ever impressive Michael Offei Dodoo will come up against Evans Dodoo in an all Attoh Quarshie Gym affair also in the lightweight, while Jackson Nortey of Bronx Gym engages Raphael Mensah of Wisdom Gym in a Bantamweight clash.

In the Welterweight category, Moses Domenyo of Square Deal Gym will face Abraham Afful of Ashaiman Gym while Ebenezer Sowah battles Emmanuel Quarshie in another Attoh Quarshie affair in the same division. Hard-hitting southpaw Giblim Ahmed Wisdom Gym will face his toughest test in the championship against Emmanuel Martey of Square Deal Gym in a Middleweight clash, while Charles Azumah of Attoh Quarshie Gym is tipped to overcome fellow gym mate King Paul in the third of the bouts.

Jah Bless' Maxwell Amponsah will seek to boost his gym's chances against Sampson Dzaku of Akotoko Gym in the light heavyweight division, which will also witness the Matthew Nandoli (Wisdom Gym) and Michael Osula of Black Panthers in a tight clash. 05 July 08
