Christian Atsu Twasam was a Ghanaian professional footballer who played as a winger. Born on January 10, 1992, in Ada Foah, Greater Accra Region, he tragically died in the February 2023 Turkey earthquake at the age of 31. Atsu had a successful career, playing for clubs like FC Porto, Chelsea, and Newcastle United, as well as representing Ghana internationally.

Early Life and Career:
Atsu grew up in poverty in a fishing community in Ada Foah.
He started his football career at a young age, playing for Peace Boys Football club and later for the Feyenoord Football Academy in Gomoa Fetteh.
He was scouted by FC Porto and joined their youth academy, eventually making his professional debut in 2011.

Professional Career:
Atsu had loan spells at Rio Ave and Vitesse before joining Chelsea in 2013.
He was loaned out to Everton, Bournemouth, Malaga, and eventually Newcastle United, where he signed permanently in 2017.
He spent four years at Newcastle before joining Al-Raed in Saudi Arabia and later Hatayspor in Turkey, where he played until his death.

International Career:
Atsu represented Ghana in various tournaments, including the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
He was named Player of the Tournament and won the Goal of the Tournament award at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

Legacy:
Atsu was known for his dribbling skills and was nicknamed "Ghana Messi".
