The Mortuary Workers Association of Ghana (MOWAG) has raised concerns over a sharp increase in the number of bodies arriving at mortuaries nationwide.

This surge coincides with an ongoing strike by the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), protesting delayed implementation of improved service conditions.

MOWAG General Secretary Richard Kofi Jordan noted a rise in daily deaths from about 10 to between 20 and 25, attributing the increase to the absence of nurses due to the strike.
