Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku has expressed strong confidence in the Black Queens’ technical leadership, insisting head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren has the experience required to guide the team back to the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Speaking after the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations group stage draw in Morocco, Okraku pointed to Bjorkegren’s track record and calm authority as key assets as Ghana prepares for a demanding Group D campaign against Cameroon, Mali, and Cape Verde.
"I think that the head coach is very experienced and able to guide the girls. I have no doubt whatsoever that we'll compete and that we will make it to the World Cup," Okraku told reporters.
The Black Queens approach the tournament buoyed by their third-place finish at the 2024 WAFCON, also hosted in Morocco.
While Ghana remains in pursuit of its first WAFCON title, the immediate objective is a return to the global stage.
A place in the semi-finals guarantees qualification to the Women’s World Cup, a competition the Black Queens have not featured in since 2007.
The tournament will run from March 17 to April 3, with Morocco set to host Africa’s elite women’s teams in a highly competitive championship.
