A new website has been launched in Accra, Ghana with the purpose of promoting the Ghana Black Stars in their march to Germany. The site, www.ghanaworldcup.com is being managed by Paa Kwesi Plange, www.paakwesiplange.com one of Ghana's foremost, dynamic young journalists together with Charles N-Mensah, aka Mr. CNN of Ghanaweb fame. The website is also available at the government of Ghana site, www.ghana.gov.gh.
The site features incisive articles, tidbits and news about the black stars as they prepare for their biggest assignment ever- FIFA world cup Germany 2006. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, Plange who is on a trip to the States to promote the website further disclosed that his organization is going to outdoor a magazine in March to shore up support for the Black Stars and to raise money for the team.
APPLAUSE which is the name of the soon-to-be launched magazine, he affirmed would serve as Ghana's official World Cup Guide and would be tailored at Ghanaians who prefer to read hard copy news about their heroes instead of the internet.
?APPLAUSE has been specifically put together to bring the victorious Black Stars team closer home to Ghanaians, wherever they may be. Applause has been put together to chronicle the journey of the Black Stars from the time they started the qualifiers to the ultimate qualification. Applause will be a one stop manual for everything any one will like to know about the Black Stars and the people behind it ? players, handlers, management team, sponsors etc?, Plange asserted.
While part of proceeds from the sale will be geared towards the Stars preparations, it will also serve as a platform to present the other side of the players? lives, present incisive interviews and do an in-depth analysis of the teams in the Stars? group and what makes them tick.
Applause will also feature the informed judgment of seasoned soccer analysts, former players and journalists. In a nutshell, applause will be the official manual of the success story, chronicling events as they happened, presenting statistics, and emblazoning never-seen-before images and shots of the Black Stars in the process.
Journalists working on this project include, Maurice Quansah of the Graphic Sports, Michael Oti Adjei of TV3, David Tagoe, Kotoko Express and Charles Ntiamoah-Mensah (Mr. CNN) and of Ghanaweb fame.
