Accra, Dec. 14, GNA - The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has selected former Chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Mr Ben Koufie as a member of Technical Study Group for next January's Cup of Nations in Egypt. The study group would focus on the technical aspect of the month-long biannual soccer showpiece and make recommendations to be submitted to all national associations.
Mr Koufie, also a member of the FIFA Technical Committee is expected to bring his rich experience as a former player and a coach to bear on the competition. A message from CAF to the GNA Sports in Accra praised the former GFA chairman who has had a coaching spell with Zimbabwean and Botswana. He was a member of the CAF Technical Study Group during the CAN 1994 in Tunisia, Ghana '99 Youth Championship and also a member of the FIFA technical team during the Japan/Korea World Cup tournament.
Mr Koufie told the GNA Sports that he has reached an agreement with the National Sports Council to help fully develop local coaches in the country. A preliminary course would be organised for the coaches from Monday, January 19, to Friday January 23, at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium. It would be followed by intermediary and advanced courses early next year. Mr Koufie leaves for Egypt a week ahead of the competition.
