The defender is set to stay with The Black and Greens until 2023, having sealed a new deal. Sassuolo full-back Claud Adjapong has penned a one-year contract extension that will keep him at Mapei Stadium-Citta del Tricolore until 2023.

The Italian U-21 star has been subject of transfer speculations this summer, with AC Milan, Inter Milan and German side RB Leipzig said to be interested in his services.

The new deal, which puts to rest the transfer reports, comes a year after signing a five-year contract with The Black and Greens.

"The Sassuolo Calcio Sports Union communicates the contractual renewal of the sports performances of the following neroverdi players: Claud Adjapong ('98, defender) until 30 June 2023, Giacomo Raspadori ('00, forward) until 30 June 2022," the Italian club announced on Thursday.

Last term, Adjapong made 16 Serie A appearances involving 14 starts.

Born to Ghanaian parents in Italy, the youngster has featured for the Europeans at youth level.

However, he remains eligible to play for Ghana at senior level as he is yet to make a competitive appearance for Gli Azzurri.
