Chelsea back for Inter Milan bound Kwadwo Asamoah

Chelsea have reportedly joined Inter Milan in the race for Juventus contract rebel Kwadwo Asamoah.

The versatile wing-back is available on a free transfer this summer after snubbing a new deal to stay in Turin.

Inter are believed to be leading the race for Asamoah’s signature as they also look to raid Lazio for soon-to-be free agent Stefan De Vrij.

But Italian newspaper Tuttosport claims Chelsea have emerged as serious contenders for the Ghana international’s signature.

The Blues are becoming more and more reluctant to spend big amounts on individual signings if they are unable to offset current members of the squad for big bucks.

And the opportunity to land a seasoned international with a proven track record for nothing could be too good to pass up for Roman Abramovich’s transfer gurus.

There could be big chances afoot at Stamford Bridge, with Antonio Conte expected to depart this summer.

But one man who is hoping to stay put is ageing playmaker Cesc Fabregas.

The Spain international hasn’t enjoyed the greatest of seasons at Stamford Bridge.

However, Fabregas insists he wants to remain in West London, saying: “I’m happy and would like to continue here next season, I’m very good at Chelsea.”
