Dreams FC defeated Hearts 2-1 in the finals of this year’s G-8 competition in a fascinating match played at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Goals from Cromwell Abdul Razak and Leonard Owusu ensured victory for the newly promoted Ghana Premier League as they won the trophy for the first time in the club’s history. Daniel Kordie scored the consolation goal for Hearts.

The early stages of the first half started in blistering fashion with some end to end action from both sides. Hearts were the better side as the maneuvered play around the Dreams penalty box but were unable to penetrate the strong line of Dreams denfence.

Hearts midfielder Daniel Kordie broke the deadlock with ferocious hit from 30 yards as he gave Hearts the deserved lead on the 17th minute mark.

Dreams responded very well after going a goal down as defender Cromwell Abdul Razak delivered a superb strike minutes later to restore parity.

Referee Isaaka Ayensu awarded Dreams FC a penalty in the 61st minute after Eric Gawu was brought down in the penalty box by Hearts goalkeeper Ben Mensah.

Dreams FC Captain Leonard Owusu stepped up and struck home for Dreams as they took the lead.

Hearts have responded very well after going a goal down as they have applied the pressure on the Dreams defence but lacked the much needed cutting edge in pursuit of that elusive equaliser.

Hearts Captain Inusah Musah received his marching orders after his second yellow card of the game as Hearts we left in despair as they succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to the newly promoted Ghana Premier League side.
