The fourth ORPED Ghana under 13 girls football tournament is set to come off at Adoagyiri Nsawam in the Eastern region on Easter Monday, April 17, 2017 with teams set to participate.

This follows the successful hosting of the previous three with were very successful in helping to achieve its original aim of imparting community awareness and volunteerism in the children.

Sports Director of ORPED Ghana Idrees Ari-Miyaa said in a statement that this year’s event is set to surpass the previous editions and will also be held at the Al – Rajhi Park, Adoagyiri.

He announced the theme for this year’s event as “Scoring Educational Goals” and hopes it would achieve the aim for this project which is to give equal opportunity for girls to learn and play.

The event is scheduled to start at 8am with the four teams expected to play in a knockout competition with the two teams to emerge winners after the opening two games going on to contest the final.

The two losers will play for the third and fourth positions before the fsinal of the competition is played to climax the winner of this year’s tournament.

The four girls’ teams have been selected from the locality and they will be expected to give off their best as they strive to represent their area in the quest to win laurels.

The special guests for this occasion are the Member of Parliament for the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Constituency Frank Annoh-Dompreh who will be expected to deliver a special message for girl child education in his area.

Another special guest will be Margaret Mbodze Belewa; a Kenyan based Development Consultant who has been invited to Ghana by ORPED Sports Ghana in collaboration with the Centre for Sports Policy Analysis & Research- CSPAR-Ghana.

She will be expected to share her knowledge and personnel experiences of Sports for Development in Africa and her role as the first Executive Director of Moving The Goalpost as well as her role in promoting Girls Development in Africa through Sports & Education
