UCC beat KNUST 3-1 in GUSA soccer

Cape Coast, Jan.24, GNA - University of Cape Coast (UCC) on Saturday shocked defending soccer champions of the GUSA games, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) when they spanked them 3-1 in the soccer competition of the GUSA games currently going on at Cape Coast.

Kicking under the instruction of class one referee, Joseph Macarthy, UCC who expressed their determination to carry the day, started the game fiercely and scored the opener through a penalty awarded them in the fourth minute and expertly taken by midfielder, Sebastian Amagashitsi. UCC continued to pile pressure on their opponents and it came as no surprise when they increased the tally to 2-0 through inside left, Kelvin Aggor with a header in the 22nd minute.

KNUST sensing defeat from then on took absolute command of the game and kept their opponents vital area boiling and deservedly earned a penalty when a hard-pressed defender of UCC handled the ball in the vital area.

Left half back, Edward Nkansah, scored from the resultant kick. The celebrations of KNUST and their desire to get the much needed equalizer were shattered when Amagashitsiwas on hand to worsen the plight of KNUST with a beautiful goal in the 47th minute to bring the final score to 3 - 1.

In the women's soccer, KNUST beat University of Education, Winneba 2 - 1.
