Olympics Welfare Committee fights back

Accra, Jan. 2, GNA - The Welfare Committee of Accra Great Olympics has stated that the Board of Directors of the club have no power to dissolve it since it was not formed by it but by the Supporters Union of the club.

In a statement signed by Mr Charles Crabbe, Chairman of the Committee, it said the decision by the Board to dissolve the committee is without basis adding that the committee is the brainchild of the Supporters Union and therefore could not be dissolved by any organ, except the supporters.

According to the statement copied to the GNA Sports, the decision to dissolve the committee together with the technical committee of the club is due to the machinations of some members of the board, notably Seth Ankrah, David Fugah and Justice George Lamptey.

"Olympics is not the personal property of these three men and any of their decisions which will not be in the interest of the club would be fiercely resisted" Mr Crabbe stated in the statement.

The statement expressed surprise at the appointment of Mr Victus Amenyedor to the Board and described it as illegal because appointment to the board is the sole prerogative of the shareholders. The statement called on other members of the board who are not in support of the actions of the three men to join in the fight to make the club a better one.

It also called on the supporters of the club to exercise restrain as in due course they would be briefed on the restructuring of the club being undertaken by the Council of Patrons.

It would be recalled that the Board of Directors of the Club announced the dissolution of the Welfare and Technical Committees of the club.
