Ex-Hearts striker Gilbert Fiamenyo has revealed he joined Kenyan side AFC Leopards for financial reasons.

Fiamenyo completed a two-year deal with the East African side as a free agent last week.

The bulky attacker has revealed he joined the side purely for financial reasons.

“I must say that I joined AFC Leopard basically for financial purposes. I’m not shy to say that I was enticed by the money involved because at my age, I feel it’s time for me to make good money because after featuring for some of the big teams in the country and I think the time is right to move abroad and test my wits in a different league, but money played a major role in my decision to join AFC Leopard," he told Accra-based Happy FM

“I’m happy to have secured the move to play in Kenya and more especially for a big club like AFC Leopard, who in my opinion is as big as Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko because they feature regularly in CAF competitions.

"I don’t know much about the club itself but I’m aware that playing their league gives u a big exposure mainly because most of their games are shown on DSTV, which has a wide coverage range across Africa and beyond.

He added: “I’ve heard so many rumours that I was forced out from Dwarfs, but I will not make any comment on it. I only have good things to say about the club because in my heart I know I have no problem with them, and would like to thank them for everything they did for me in my time there.”
