The policy of domestication and the call to patronize made-in-Ghana products has finally hit the camp of the Black Stars as the newly appointed Minister of Youth and Sports Hon. Nii Lante Vanderpuye has disclosed that players will no longer be paid in dollars.

According to the charged minister, we are Ghanaians and must use what we have.

He further explained that the President of the country, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama does not receive his salaries in dollars and that paying the Black Stars in dollars is wrong.

Speaking to Nyhira FM in Kumasi, Hon. Nii Lante Vanderpuye said: “Yes I have directed that the bonuses of the Black Stars should be paid in the local currency into their individual accounts. No player will be receiving bonus in dollars anymore. That is not our currency.”

“We are aware that where the players play, they are not given cash money as their salaries or bonuses. It is paid into their accounts so we will also do that.

We will pay the dollar equivalent of the amount agreed upon as their bonus into their accounts. No dollars again,” he added.
