STEPHEN APPIAH MAKES HISTORY

The captain of the senior national team ,the black stars,today made history for Italian serie A side Juventus de turin when they defeated arch-rivals Ac Milan on penalties to win the Italian super cup in a gruelling 120minutes of soccer action at the giants stadium in Rutherford ,New-Jersey.

In a match that was seen as a replay of the European champions league final, Milan played a very determined game with midfield dynamo,Clarence seedorf distributing passes for the likes of Filipo inzaghi and Andriy shevchenko but against the run of play,Juventus were the first to test the preparedness of goalkeeper Abbiati who was in post for the rossoneri, when french international,David trezeguet’s goal bound header was saved by Abbiati in the 16th minute.

Abbiati, who stood between Juventus and the match opening goal, scored full marks when he was called to duty by Trezeguet’s double stike in the 25th and 27th minute.This was the third time the Italian super cup or copa d’italia has been played outside italy, it will be recalled that, the 2002 edition was played in Tripoli,Libya when Juventus defeated Ac Parma to win the cup.

Stephen appiah, who was the preferred choice in this match, instead of the dutch international Edgar davids, combined effectively with Pavel Nedved and Del piero to hold the midfield of Juventus from crumbling under the fast play of the Milan midfielders.Pierluigi collina who was flown in from italy to officiate in this tension packed encounter, proved why he is the best in the world when he disallowed a Filipo inzaghi goal in the 25th minute for off-side positioning.

Juventus de turin who were bent on salvaging their image after the defeat to English champions,Manchester united ,were stunned when Zambrotta was judged to have fouled Andriy shevchenko,who was a hand full for the Juve defenders in 18 yard box, that was in the 15th minute of the 30minutes extra time .Pirlo, who was inspirational in the match, stepped forward to convert the penalty to make it 1-nil Ac Milan.

Juventus responded quickly,under a minute when an inswinger from Pavel nedved was connected by David trazeguet ,who was very effective in the game. Juventus won the match 5-4 on penalties when Brocchi’s penalty was saved by the worlds most expensive keeper and man of the match Gianluigi buffon.

Kwame Quansah had a good debut for AIK Stockholm despite his side losing the match. He scored a nice goal in the end.
Kwame Quansah played the full match and had a very good debut in AIK shirt. He showed that he is a smart player and he is a good ball taker with deep field runs. He produced around 3 good attacks on his own in the first 30 min. then got a bit tired and got lonley, but then did a very beautiful goal in the end of the match.

AIK fans gave him 5 of 5 scale points.
