Home Stars beat Mariners 1-0

Ho, Aug 3 GNA - Ho-based Home Stars on Sunday beat Great Mariners of Accra by a lone goal in the Division One League match played at the Ho Sports Stadium on Sunday. The goal came in the 43rd minute when Nicholas Kwesi, the Star's marksman delivered a 20-metre shot past Emmanuel Quansah in goal for Mariners. The beauty of the game was however marred by several infringements and hold-ups due to rough play by both teams. The agility of Quansah robbed Home Stars of two goals in the 27th and 30th minutes. An uneventful second half was characterised by near misses, culminating in the sparse crowd booing at the players for their lackadaisical approach to scoring.
