Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee of the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations, Kofi Amoah, says the exit of FIFA President, Sepp Blatter, is good for the progress of global football.
The businessman in a statement released Tuesday said “I believe that Principles and Morality should continue to guide nations and the global football community towards progress.
“No amount of money can replace these because in the end Principles and Morality shall prevail.
“I welcome and support the resignation of Mr Blatter.
“And I also believe that the cleansing of African football administration will not be far from now.
“Let Principles and Morality be our guide as well”.
His statement comes after Blatter, who was re-elected on Friday for a fifth term in an election overshadowed by corruption allegations, has decided to resign.
At a press conference Monday, Blatter said “My mandate does not appear to be supported by everybody.”
He has subsequently asked the body to call a congress that would elect his successor.
