Nsor: Metz can still escape relegation

Ghanaian striker Kwame Nsor is confident his French ligue 1 side Metz could still avoid the drop zone despite occupying the foot of the French topflight log.

Nsor has had a bad season ravaged by series of injuries, with his up-field partner Diafra Sakho moving to West Ham and leaving the newly-promoted side’s attacking line debilitated.

"It is going to be difficult for my club Metz to get out of relegation but everything is possible since we still have the chance mathematically to stay in Ligue 1,” Nsor told Goal.

“Sakho’s departure affected us because he used to score lots of goals and was a very important player. We currently find it difficult to score but I think it's about the whole team and not because of Sakho’s departure,” he said.

Nsor is back to training after surviving two career-threatening injuries which kept him out for a combined period of seven months. However, he is hoping to soon rediscover his usual top form.

“I am recovering bit by bit. I play for the first team and anytime I’m not selected I go and play for the second team so I can recover my form,” he said. Nsor says he has had great experience playing in France despite the difficulties faced along the line.

“Playing in the Ligue 1 was a dream but it has not been easy for us because we have a lot of young players, who are playing for the first time in the top flight,” he said.

“Personally, I’ve learnt a lot and I hope to return to regular play soon which I think will help my team and contribute to my improvement.”

Nsor was signed by Metz from German side Kaiserslautern in 2013.
