Hearts Coach Under Seige After Poor Showing

Accra Hearts of Oak coach Herbert Addo is once again under pressure after his side managed just a 1-0 win over Togolese champions AS Douanne in the first round first leg match of the African champions League.

Wisdom Abbey’s second half header earned Hearts the narrow win but the Phobians wasted several scoring opportunities especially by Abbey himself.

He accepted responsibility for the slim win but said Hearts can still scrape through and win the second leg. For most of the fans however, there was only one person to blame for the slim win.

They hurled abuses at coach Herbert Addo and insisted his selection policy has effected negatively on the team. One fan said: “We created several chances alright but couldn’t score but that is football. Sometimes it is like a lottery. But our coach is not good. He never knows his first eleven, he is changing his players every time that only ensures the team slacks”.

Coach Addo, who helped Obuasi Goldfield to the finals of the champions league in 1997, naturally disagrees. He says on the day, his side’s finishing was just poor.
