I once regretted playing for Kotoko – Coffie

Former AshantiGold and Accra Great Olympics midfielder, Francis Coffie, has revealed his regret for playing for Kumasi Asante Kotoko at a point in time during his three-year stint with the Porcupine Warriors.

Even though Coffie admitted that his stay with Asante Kotoko was the greatest in his football career so far, he claims he nearly bowed out of the club after tasting the bad side of the game from the fans of the club.

Speaking exclusively to sportscrusader.com, Francis Coffie said, “I remember we once played against Wa All Stars in Kumasi and the game ended in a draw. I was brought into the game in the second half and I squandered a lot of begging chances. After the game, it was hell for me. My mother and father were all insulted and I felt very bad playing for such a club”.

“So for the records, it was the most regrettable game of my life which nearly ended my fabulous career. I loved playing for Kotoko, but at that point I regretted wearing the red jersey”, Coffie added.

Francis Coffie has now signed a one year loan contract with El Merreikh of Sudan.
