Okrah, Ainooson battle for FA Cup top honour

Ghana Cup winners Asante Kotoko dominate the list for the 2013-14 MTN FA Cup awards scheduled for August 9 in Accra.

Two Porcupine Warriors players have been shortlisted for the Best Player Award and will battle SWAG and Premier League's goal king Augustine Okrah and Gold Stars talisman Elvis Opoku.

Kotoko duo defender Abeiku Ainooson and midfielder Issah Yakubu will be hoping to beat their contenders for the topmost award of the night, but Opoku will face no competition for the Cup's goal king diadem after netting seven goals.

The Porcupine Warriors topped the nominations after winning their eighth FA Cup trophy when they pipped Inter Allies 2-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium following a last minute simple tap-in goal from striker Seidu Bancey to close in the gap between them and arch rivals Hearts of Oak.

The Phobians have won the trophy 10 times, but Kotoko’s feat last term becomes their first-ever double after clinching the elite division title the same season since the club's formation in 1935.

Mas-Ud Didi Dramani of Kotoko and Allies' Herbert Addo as well as King Faisal’s Prince 'Sabuto' Acheampong and John Kila will contest for the Coach of the Year accolade.
