Keeper Dauda starts Pirates training

Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Fatau Dauda will start training today after an extended rest following his participation in the 2014 World Cup with Ghana.
After staying on the bench in the match against USA, Dauda kept the post for Ghana in the matches against Germany and Portugal. However, he could not help the Black Stars to progress beyond the group stages.
As a result of his participation in the World Cup in Brazil, the 29-year-old keeper was unable to rest during the end of the season break. Pirates’ head of communications Mickey Modisane has confirmed to the Siya crew that Dauda has been given a rest but will start work today.
“Dauda will only join us today (Monday). Remember that he didn’t rest because he was with Ghana in the World Cup, so we have given him some time off,” said Modisane.
Dauda failed to unsettle Pirates number one Senzo Meyiwa last season, but following his impressive showing in the World Cup for the Black Stars, he would fancy his chances of taking the jersey from Meyiwa.
But with Pirates having signed Philani Zikalala from AmaZulu during the current transfer period, the Ghanaian goalkeeper will face more competition for a starting berth in the Bucs team.
