Mahatma wants Sogndal to improve

Ghana striker Mahatma Otoo has said he wants to improve his form to lift Sogndal in the Norwegian top-flight.

Sogndal’s best results in their opening four games of the Norwegian Eliteserien is a 1-1 stalemate with Sarpsborg 08 and are rock bottom in the table with a single point, trailing Sandnes Ulf and Haugesund who are equally under-performing in the league.

But after scoring in a 1-0 raid against lower-tier side Årdal in the MN Cupen on Thursday, the 22-year-old is confident his side can rise steadily and finish in a respectable position.

“It was good to score and win the game but the most important thing is keep this performance and translate it into the league. We are not doing well and we must gradually improve our performance,” he said after their MN Cupen victory.

Otoo has featured in 2 out of Sogndal’s opening 4 games of the season, taking his total league appearances to 12 games.

The striker who is capped once by Ghana’s senior national team – the Black Stars, joined Sogndal from Ghanaian giants Accra Hearts of Oak in the second half of last season.
