The midfielder was operated on at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra on Thursday. Abubakar has been battling an injury located at the back of his knee – referred to as popliteal fossa (knee pit).

The injury was the main reason the forceful midfielder was dropped from Ghana’s squad for the CHAN tournament hosted by South Africa.
