Our game against USA will be war - Kwadwo Asamoah

Juventus and Black Stars midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah says Ghana's opening Group G game against USA will be the team's toughest game at the World Cup.

The midfielder, whose impeccable passing, intelligent movement off the ball and positioning has made him one of the first names on Juventus' team sheet, said he expressed surprise when USA were announced as one of the teams in Ghana's group when the draw was made last December.

Speaking with Goal Ghana's Kent Mensah, the midfielder said, “Our game against USA is going to be war because they won’t sit back to lose three times to Ghana. It is not going to be easy for only us, but Germany and Portugal too.”

“There is no group favourite. Individuals don’t matter in football anymore but how the team plays on the field,” he added.

The mercurial midfielder also expressed optimism about Ghana's chances at the World Cup. “It is all about believe and determination. We are going to do our best to come out of the group. Ghanaians should believe in us because we are the same players that qualified for the World Cup,” he said.

“No one knows who is going to win the World Cup. With team spirit we can move forward. We have to approach every game seriously and that will determine where we’ll finish. It is all about hard work. Let’s think about our group games first then we look at what happens next.”
