Awal Mohammed to arrive on Thursday

...for Zambia Clash

Ghana international defender Awal Mohammed alongside Rashid Sumaila and Fatau Dauda will be the first national team players to arrive in the country on Thursday ahead of the epic 2014 World Cup qualifier against Zambia next week.

The Maritzburg United defender Awal Mohammed indicated that because the PSL league will be on break for the international assignment by Wednesday the three players will come to Ghana on time to train on their own before the Black Stars commence training on September 2.

“Yes we will arrive on Thursday, I have been in touch with them and all that we are waiting for is the day to leave here and come to Ghana, I have been very active for my club and I know if am called upon I will not disappoint my team, so we are coming and we will see what we can do.”

Asked about the chances of the team, the former Asante Kotoko defender was adamant Zambia will be brushed aside on that fateful day, adding that as a Moslem, the fact that the game is being played on a Friday means a lot to him.

“All Ghanaians should support us. It is good that we have finished the fasting and the game is also on Friday so it is a special day for me. “ We will beat them and they cannot stop us, because we are more motivated to qualify to the world Cup next year. If the coach calls or invites his players they are also Ghanaians, but the aim is to help the team beat Zambia and make it to the play offs.”

Black Stars head coach Kwasi Appiah has named all three players in his squad, with the team beginning non-residential camping on Monday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
