Tony Adams to do Airtel Rising Stars launch in Ghana

Ex-Arsenal captain Tony Adams will be in Ghana on April 26 to perform the launch of the third season of the Airtel Rising Stars tournament.

The U17 tournament for both the male and the female division is in its third year since its inception in 2011.

The competition has been responsible for unearthing several juvenile talents for the various aged national teams.

Notable of such talents is Priscilla Okyere who captained the Ghana U17 female team to an historic bronze medal at the World Cup in Azerbaijan last year.

Airtel plans to do five zonal activations for this season’s tournament – a departure of their normal two zonal activations as part of their plans to extend access of the competition to several more.

“As part of plans to improve and extend access of the tournament to reach many more talents, Airtel intends extending its zonal activations from two to five,” Airtel’s Co-operate Relations Manager Kwame Gyan said during a press interaction session on Friday.

Arsenal legend Tony Adams will be in Ghana on April 26 to do the media launch as part of Airtel’s three-year partnership with the English football club.

Arsenal will as part of the partnership agreement signed last year will also support the Rising Stars project by providing technical and logistical support.

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour led a team of coaches from the club to help out with last year’s tournament which is also in conjunction with the Ghana Football Association.
