Sellas eyes African U20 trophy

Ghana U20 coach Sellas Tetteh has turned his attention to winning the African Youth Championship after his side qualified for the FIFA World Cup.

Tetteh’s charges beat tournament hosts Algeria 2-0 in Ain Temouchent to finish second in Group A and picked one of the four slots for Africa.

His side will face Mali in the second semi-final on Tuesday night in Oran.

The Liberty Professionals technical director wants to become the first coach to win the competition after success at the 2009 finals in Rwanda.

“What will I be waiting for? I have qualified for the World Cup and the ultimate is also there and that was my target and I think we are very capable of achieving that,” the former Rwanda boss said at a press conference.

“We only have to put in the right things and keep working but I will love to see Ghana and Egypt final,” he said.

Ghana failed to defend the trophy they won four years ago at the last edition in South Africa.
