Wakaso faces heavy fine at Espanyol

Spanish side RCD Espanyol are in the dark over the whereabouts of midfielder Mubarak Wakaso as he is yet to report two days after the set date for his return from participating in the just ended Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa with Ghana, footy-Ghana.com has learnt.

The Catalan club say they expected Wakaso at Wednesday’s training but the Ghanaian failed to report.

The Espanyol management claims it does not have news on the former AshantiGold player.

However, there is speculation that Wakaso could be flying to Spain today and expected to join Coach Javier Aguirre’s side later in the day.

Wakaso will be fined according to the internal rules of the club and will also be reprimanded in public by the coach unless he presents a good excuse.

The club is desperate to have him around to assess his fitness to determine if he could play in Sunday evening’s league game against Real Betis.

Betis are also faced with a similar situation as their midfielder Nosa Igiebor who won the AfCON trophy with his country Nigeria is yet to return to the club.
