Black Stars defender John Boye has confirmed to footyGhana he will not be available for Wednesday's International friendly against China.
In a chat from his base in Rennes, the 25-year-old centre back who was included in Ghana’s 18-man squad for the friendly says he is yet to be fully fit after suffering a groin setback in pre-season a few weeks ago.
“I can’t make it to China. I’m still recovering though I am back to training now but I have to be more fit. I still feel some pains and I hope to get back soon for my club and Ghana,” Boye told footy-Ghana.com.
Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah’s squad will now be reduced to 17. By the close of Monday, 12 players had arrived in China. The rest of the squad are expected to arrive by Tuesday afternoon for the final training session before the match.
