BA United Lifts Kwaku Firi Cup

Brong Ahafo United, the Apostles of Power Soccer, on Wednesday lifted the Kwaku Firi Cup, for the first time in the Tournament’s history.

The annual soccer fiesta, which featured teams like BA United, Tano Bofoakwa, techiman-based Universal Stars and Unity FC of Wenchi, was part of activities marking the APO festival by the people Nwoase, near Wenci in the Brong Ahafo Region, and also in honour of Nana Kofi Dorobo III of the renowned kwaku Firi Shrine. United defeated arch-rivals Tano Bofoakwa 1-0, through a Kwabena Dodzi goal, on their way to the finals. Like every typical BA United-Bofo clash, the game was tension-packed and uncompromising but United showed their class with some delightful football and deservedly won the game.

Universal Stars who had earlier on beaten Wenchi Unity FC by a lone goal, gave a good account of themselves but lost in the grand-finale to United, through a goal from Yakubu Mahama.
