Kuffour stays loyal to Bayern

Ghanaian international defender Samuel Kuffour has agreed to honour his Bayern Munich contract which expires in 2003. Recently, the Italian champions AS Roma offered $US 16.5m for Kuffour but they were met with a reply of 'no' by Bayern chiefs. Now though, commercial manager Uli Hoene? and president Franz Beckenbauer are not even prepared to talk to the Serie A giants as they insist Kuffour is staying put.

Kuffour said: "My future lies with Bayern Munich. I will talk with the directors about all the offers that come in for me but my immediate future will be with Bayern Munich."

"It is unbelievable what I have achieved in my time with Bayern. Not many players of my age can say they have won what I have."

When his contract expires he will once again be open to offers but for now it seems Kuffour will be wearing the famous red shirt once again next season, and the season after that.
