Final List of U20 Side Out

The final list of 20 players of the national Under-20 side, the Black Satellites, who will fly the flag of Ghana in the World Youth Championship in Argentina this month, was released yesterday with Accra Hearts of Oak’s Bernard Dong Bortey(in pic) and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Frank Weitner being the newest additions.

Also to star for the first time for the Black Satellites is James Owusu Ansah who plies his trade in Mexico.

The full list is made up of three goalkeepers, five defenders, seven midfielders and five attackers.

Goalkeepers: Maxwell Owusu Banahene - Sekondi Hasaacas; George Owoo - Sekondi Hasaacas and William Amamoo - Dawu Youngsters.

Defenders: Emmanuel Pappoe - Liberty Professionals; Patrick Villars - Ebusua Dwarfs; Abass Inusah - Real Sportive; Michael Essien - Bastia, France, and John Mensah - Belencona, Spain.

Midfielders: Sulley Muntari - Liberty Professionals; Derek Boateng - Panathinaikos - Greece; Anthony Obodai - Ajax, Holland; James Owusu Ansah - Mexico; Frank Weitner - Borussia Monchengladbach, Germany; Kwaku Duah - Asante Kotoko and Yusif Issah - King Faisal.

Attackers: Okaidja Thompson - Top Allies, Accra; Razak Pimpong - Midjiland; Bernard Dong Bortey - Hearts; John Paintsil - Berekum Arsenal; Frank Osei - King Faisal.

The team is expected to fly to Germany next Wednesday for a training tour after which they will fly to Argentina for the World Youth Championship, which commences Sunday, June 17.

Meanwhile, as part of their preparation, the Satellites will play a friendly match against Accra Great Olympics at the Tema Stadium this afternoon. The match kicks off at 3.30 p.m.
