FORMER BLACK Stars coach Cecil Jones Attuquayefio was presented with the African Coach of the Year Award by CAF on Tuesday.

In the first ever African Football Awards Ceremony in Johannesburg, the technical director of the African Champions and Super Cup holders, Hearts of Oak, won the award ahead of former Cameroon national team coach Jean-Paul Akono and the present Indomitable Lions coach Pierre Lenchatre.

Cameroonian Samuel Eto Fil's of Spanish side Mallorca, overshadowed the other Ghanaian presence, Ishmael Addo, this time around to win the African Youth Talent Award.

Other award winners were Cameroon's Olympic Team for the Team of the Year. Asec Mimosa of Ivory Coast took the Youth Development Award with Nigerian winning the Fair Play Award.

THE GOAL of Year Award went to South Africa's Thabo Mngomeni whilst Khalid Fouhani of Morocco won the Save of the Year.

Cameroon swept the board as they won the National Team of the Century whilst Egyptian Club side l Ahly confirmed their club status with the Club of the Century Award.

Special awards were given by CAF to deserving winners, with Arsenal's Nigerian star Nwanko Kanu presented with the Humanitarian Award while Somalia took the Recognition Award.

Egyptian star Hossam Hassan was not left out of the ceremony as he was presented with the African Soccer Career Achievement Award.
