Ref Assault Hearing

FOUR PLAYERS and management officials will face disciplinary action in Ghana after a referee was verbally abused, an inquiry will hear.

Three Asante Kotoko players, Real Tamale United’s Nurudeen Wemah and some of their management team will be meeting the FA's Disciplinary Committee over charges levelled against them by the referee and match commissioner, who took charge in the first league match between United and Asante at the start of the season at Tamale Kalandan Park.

According to the invitation letter, in pursuant of articles 34(8) of the Ghana Football Association regulations, Messrs Osei Boateng, Joe Sam and Joe Hendricks, all of Asante, are being called upon to answer charges of verbal assault on referee W.A. Buckman Yanney.

Details of the charges are that the three players of Asante Kotoko insulted and cursed the referee.

The case against Real Tamale United states: "Assault on supporters and officials of Kotoko by supporters of Real Tamale United."

Mr Nurudeen Wemah, part of the backroom staff at United, is also to appear before the committee when he was alleged to have thrown an object in the direction of Kotoko's goal.

The hearing will also take note that the game generated some violence that led to the mass resignation of the playing body of Real Tamale United.
