PNC commend Stars for performance

Accra, Feb. 08, GNA - The Leadership of the People's National Convention (PNC) has commended the Black Stars for their encouraging performance at the 26th MTN Africa Cup of Nations. "We wholeheartedly congratulate you on how far you have come, defying all pessimistic speculations and wish to express the profound excitement and pride of the Leadership of the PNC with your stupendous performance."

Mr Bernard Mornah, General Secretary of the PNC, in a press release copied to the GNA Sports said; "we would like to entreat our gallant players to put the pangs of their loss to Cameroon behind them and move forward with renewed hope and confidence".

He urged the team to be convinced that all was not lost yet and that they still had an opportunity to brighten the dimmed hope of their fans and admirers, indeed all Ghanaians by wining the bronze medal. Mr Mornah said the Party was particularly happy that the players had set the tone in implementing the PNC's agenda of resurrection termed 'I can do spirit' that was instilled in Ghanaians by Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah.

He said it was also instructive that the players started the tournament in the face of wild negative speculations by some doom mongers, yet so resilient and convinced they had been to reach the semi finals.

Mr Mornah said the PNC was assuring the Black Stars that in 2009 when the Party would be in government, they would give them every assistance to win Angola 2010 African Cup of Nations and the World Cup in South Africa come 2010.
