Ghanaians urged to rally behind the Stars

Accra, Jan 18, GNA - Dr. Lawrence Tetteh, President of the World Wide Miracle Outreach and renowned international evangelist on Friday called on Ghanaians to unite and support the national team, the Black Stars, to enable them win the African Cup of Nations tournament. "The nation should put an undivided weight behind the Stars. Sports should go beyond a game to a unifying factor for the nation in this crucial moment", he added.

In a solidarity message to commend and congratulate the Black Stars for their determination, resilience and reverence to God, Dr Tetteh said it was a privilege for the country to host the 26th African Cup of Nations tournament.

" We should be thankful to God for hosting the event which would showcase Ghana, forbearers of Africa in a positive direction that we are a peaceful, loving, God fearing nation", he said. He appealed to the citizenry to sustain the spirit of unity beyond the tournament to enable the country maintain its peace during elections in December.

Dr Tetteh also called on Ghanaians and the players to exercise self-discipline during the tournament and rather use the event to enhance the economic and political relations with sister nations. "I urge all the players to comport themselves as ambassadors of Ghana", he said and congratulated the team, especially Richard Kingson, Laryea Kingston and Michael Essien for exhibiting high Christian values.
