Laryea Kingston Fined For Overspeeding

Laryea Kingston was yesterday fined £60 after he was caught speeding by a roadside camera in a busy road.

The Hearts player, who is believed to earn as much as £15,000 a week, received three penalty points and the fine at Edinburgh District Court.

He was caught travelling at 41mph in a 30mph speed limit on Corstorphine Road in the capital, just minutes from Hearts' Tynecastle stadium, on March 30 this year.

The 26-year-old midfielder was at the wheel of a blue Honda Jazz heading towards Edinburgh city centre just before 2pm when he was caught by a fixed speed camera.

Kingston did not appear in court personally and will be informed by letter of his penalty.

It is understood that because Kingston has an international driving licence, he was forced to go through the court system rather than simply receive a fixed penalty like a British licence-holder would do.

Kingston was returning from Riyadh yesterday after playing for the Ghana national team in their 5-0 defeat by Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.

The fans' favourite joined Hearts on a six-month loan from Russian club Terek Grozny in February but has now signed a contract to stay until 2010.
