AshGold boycotts Knockout

AshantiGold have pulled out of the pre-season special Knockout in protest of the postponement of the competition.

The Professional League Board earlier in the week called off the next round of fixtures in the knockout to enable the GHALCA Top Four matches to be played at the weekend.

GHALCA had been compelled to push their mid-week matches to the weekend following complaints from Kotoko and Hearts that they will be handicapped without some influential players who had been invited to the national team.

AshantiGold's chief executive, Kudjoe Fianoo, told Joy Sports that the postponement of the knockout is unnecessary and would only cost the clubs a lot of resources.

But the vice-chairman of the Professional League Board, Mr Addai Kyeremeh, says the postponement was the most prudent decision for the board to make in view of their discussions with GHALCA and the premier competing teams in the Knockout.
