Frimpong shines in Saudi-Arabia

by OJEIKERE AIKHOJE
Ghanaian international, Joetex Frimpong, who was a member of Ghana's squad to the last Africa Cup of Nations, in Egypt, has continued to post impressive performance since joining Saudi-Arabian club, Al-Nassr of Riyadh.
Although the former Enyimba hit-man failed to hit target during the competition, in Egypt, he has since justified his presence in Saudi-Arabia.
Frimpong was on the winning side when he debuted for Al-Nassr, but was not on the scoring list. He eventually hit target in his club's 2-1 away win over Al-Shabab, which also has another member of Ghana's Nations Cup squad, Godwin Attram.
The Ghanaian, who set a CAF Champions League record of 14 goals in 2003 and 2005 scored his second consecutive goal as Nassr hit Al-Tae 4-2 on the road, last Thursday.
Aside from scoring on match day, Frimpong also set up his teammate, Monsour Al-Sakafy, who scored the third goal.
"I must confess that the goals have boosted my confidence. As a striker, it hurts when a match is concluded without a goal so you can imagine my joy," he told www.ghanaweb.com from his Riyadh base.
The Ghanaian is expected to return to his Nigerian base when the Saudi-Arabian league is concluded in April.
Frimpong''s Nassr are eighth on the 12-team table.
The club recently secured the services of former Cameroon manager, Arthur Jorge, who had managed top European clubs like Paris St. Germain and FC Porto, respectively, to show their readiness to return to the top in Saudi-Arabia and Asia.
