Zivadinovic promises to clamp down hard on indiscipline

Millan Zivadinovic, the newly appointed coach of the Senior National team, Black Stars has promised to clamp down hard on indiscipline on and off the pitch in the process of building a strong national team.

Speaking to the press in Accra on Wednesday, the coach said, "without discipline, football cannot achieve any thing and we would be compelled to depend on past glories, which has no relevance to the present. "Football today is about teamwork, hard work and commitment, first to the nation before clubs since playing for the national team gives better recognition than any club can give.

"My aim here is to build a collective team rather than around egoistic superstars, who would not take the nation anywhere."

He said any player, who refused to play for the national team under him would be barred from the national team for six months and efforts would be made to extend the sanction to their respective clubs.

Coach Zivadinovic continued that players, who were fond of attracting yellow and red card at club level would also have no place in his team since such players could not be relied on. The coach said the country was renowned worldwide for the quality of its players, who were better than most African players that are currently attracting rave reviews in Europe but they needed to be disciplined on and off the pitch.

Coach Zivadinovic was not happy with the turn up for the meeting with the players, which had only 15 players, almost half the number he had called to start his first training season with. He said he would organise another camp of this nature in the near future with a different set of players to select a solid team before Ghana's African cup qualifier against Uganda in September.

Meanwhile Coach Isaac Paha, National Under-21 Coach, has been named as the assistant to coach Zivadinovic.
