Young Kotoko wins Tamale Coca-Cola U-17 Cup

Accra, March 29, GNA - Young Kotoko beat Young Goldfields 3-1 in the final of the Coca-Cola U-17 championship in Tamale on Saturday to represent the Northern

Region. However, it was Young Goldfields who scored first through Alhassan Yussif but Firdaws Adams cancelled the lead before the close of the half. With the determination to win, Young Kotoko's Baba Abdul Razak and Husein Abdul ensured they utilized the chances that came their way after the break to secure the victory and take home the ultimate trophy. Young Kotoko received 400 Ghana cedis, a trophy, a set of jerseys and Coca-Cola products and have thus qualified for the national competition, next month. Young Goldfields on the other hand took home 350 Ghana cedis, a certificate and

Coca Cola products. Real Republicans grabbed the third spot after beating Heroes 2-0 in the third-place

game. And for their efforts, they also received a special cash prize and Coca Cola

products. Young Kotoko's Fuseini Abdallah emerged as the 'Most Valuable Player', with the

'Discovery' of the tournament award going to Super Standfast's Yakubu Issah. Alhaji Abdulai Friday, Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive, who conducted the

opening and closing ceremonies praised the organizers of the event, Coca-Cola for

their efforts to unearth soccer talents at the grassroots level to feed the various

national soccer teams. Also at the stadium to grace the occasion were Coach Abdul Razak of RTU ; Abu

Imoro, Former Black Stars and Olympics midfielder, Coach Mumuni Gamel, Ex-Black

Queens Coach; Kwame Danger and Clifford Addae, both Former RTU players, among

other personalities.
