Yeboah attributes Stars defeat to attack....

and lack of concentration

Hannover, June 13, GNA - Anthony Yeboah, former Black Stars prolific striker has attributed the performance of the team against Italy in Hannover on Monday to lack of ingenuity from the attackers and loss of concentration.

The Azzuris defeated the Stars 2-0 with a goal in each half to take the second slot behind Czech Republic.

Yeboah told the GNA Sports in Hannover that "It's unfortunate to lose when you have everything to win.

"The boys could have easily won that game if the attackers had been a little bit sharper in front of goal and fought harder.

"If you create chances and fail to score, then it's not good for a team that wants to travel far in a tournament of this nature". The former Leeds United and Frankfurt hero also criticised the goals the team conceded and said it was as a result of lack of concentration, a trait, he acknowledged often runs through the team.

"The level at which they lose concentration is amazing. In football, you get beaten the moment you decide not to focus to the end. "The first goal was a clear manifestation of that and I hope the boys will have learnt their lessons by now.

"If they don't, then they must as well forget about getting far because they will often get punished by that attitude". Yeboah, who is part of the team's delegation in Germany, was however, convinced that the Stars have what it takes to turn things around.

The Ghanaians play Czech Republic in another expected gruelling duel in Cologne on Saturday in a game the Stars looks set for their first three points if it is approached well.

"In football, anything can happen and that is why it's important not to rule anyone out.

"The boys have what it takes to beat Czech and USA and I'm only hoping they find their rhythm to enable them to convert their chances in the subsequent games".
